Our time spent in Ojai and Pinnacles, albeit brief, was magical. We got the dose of nature we were hoping for… mixed in with quality outdoor working time to prepare for our the Patchwork Show in Oakland. It was so nice to head back on our old stomping grounds, hitting up our favorite SF spots, hanging with family & friends and spending time in Oakland. After the show, we stumbled upon this cool hole in the wall bar called Heinold’s First and Last Chance Saloon – it has been in continuous operation since the 1880s. It’s also known as Jack London’s rendezvous, as he frequented this place often and it provided inspiration for many of his future writings, including the famous novels, Sea Wolf and Call of the Wild.
After Oakland, we made our way back down the coast to the beautiful beaches of Malibu. We parked the ‘stream on the bluffs overlooking the ocean while we worked away in the sunny 90 degree days for a full week. We made sure to take a walk on the beach each day… and spotted two whales and four dolphins in the course of the week! Nice office, right? So yeah, we prepped for our show, Artists and Fleas in LA’s Arts District which was the first of a now monthly show! It was very well curated and definitely worth checking out (the 3rd weekend of the month, if you’re curious). Hopefully we’ll get to frequent it again when we’re back in town.
